Naismith are the smallest of the 15 mm manufacturers and should probably be more rightly called 12 mm. At least, from the boot sole to the eye, that’s what this figure measures. Even to the top of the head he would only be 13.5 - 14.0 mm tall.  Strangely, some of his equipment looks true 15 mm.

The level of detail here is similar to Essex and Minifigs - moderate detail with moderate contrast. The backpack is smooth (and huge!), and the musket plain. The barrel is not distinguished from the stock. Cuffs, belts, and folds are raised details. The cuff also has molded lace.

This figure, as most in the line I’ve seen, tends to suffer from gnome-itis. Those legs are just too darn short for that torso. Other than that, the proportions and scale look good. The feet and hands are a good, normal size, as is the head.

The pose is a bit static for advancing, but there’s nothing really wrong with it. A little forward lean or more movement in the legs (just a bit mind you, don’t go nuts) would help a lot I think.

Perhaps because it is so small, the Naismith designs always have an appeal to me I can never quantify. Plus, they have one of the most complete Spanish ranges around.
