After AB, Battle Honors are another brand of which I tend to think pretty highly. Sculpted by Anthony Barton, now with AB, they feature the same attention to detail and anatomy. They are sold in bags of 50 infantry and, like AB, each bag contains a wide variety of poses. (Check the Figure Reviews pages for reviews of Spanish and British infantry packs). They tend to be closer to 15 mm and relatively slender. This soldier, for example, is 15.5 mm from his boot sole to his eye. One caution, however: some of the Battle Honors line masters and molds are aging and some of the bags tend to be a bit “flat.”

The overall build of the figure is quite good. Legs, torso and arms are the right relative sizes, and all the joints are where they ought to be. Hands and feet are correctly sized. The face, though small, is distinct and paints up nicely, even by me.

The equipment and uniform detail is low contrast, but beautifully balanced. All straps are clear, the musket carefully detailed, and the bedroll and backpack very well done. The shako too has nice detail on the cockade and Feldzeichen - the green sprig often worn by the troops. Trouser and cuff lace are not sculpted, so you will need a steady hand to add these details (I’m still working on it).

Like his later AB work, Barton has given as much energy to a routine pose as can be expected. The right arm and left leg are in time, and the body lean gives the figure some animation. He is, after all, just marching.

All in all, another outstanding figure.
